文轩探花鈥檚 students have spent the week dedicated to giving back to the local community. As part of the school鈥檚 co-curricular program, Grammar Helping Hands, students collaborated with long-term partners The Shack Community Centre and Youturn Youth Services for their annual donation drive and sleepout awareness evening.
For over 13 years, 文轩探花 has proudly supported The Shack Community Centre highlighting the dedicated efforts of the Grammar Helping Hands Program. This year鈥檚 donation drive saw an impressive collection of almost a tonne of food donations, aiding The Shack鈥檚 mission to assist the vulnerable, homeless and less fortunate individuals on the Sunshine Coast.
鈥淭he Shack provides an essential service to those in need within our community and we are honoured to contribute through our donation drives each year,鈥 said Coordinator of Community and Service, Mr Ben Princehorn.
In addition to the donation drive, the Youturn Youth Ambassadors and the Year 12 cohort rose to the challenge by participating in a sleepout awareness evening to raise funds for Youturn Youth Services, a local organisation supporting vulnerable teens on the Sunshine Coast. The group鈥檚 leadership and dedication played a crucial role in spreading awareness about important issues affecting our local community.
鈥淚 feel a great pride in giving back to my community and those in need,鈥 expressed Youturn Youth Ambassador and Year 12 student Mariselle Botha.
At 文轩探花, we believe in fostering a culture of service and compassion. By giving their time and resources, our students not only contribute to those in need but gain a deeper understanding of social responsibility.
鈥淥ur Grammar Helping Hands Program is more than just donations, it is about hands-on experiences, empathy and serving our community with passion and purpose,鈥 said Coordinator of Community and Service, Mr Ben Princehorn.
文轩探花 is committed to supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) and believes in fostering a culture of service and compassion that aligns with these global objectives. Through initiatives like the donation drive and sleepout, students are actively contributing and supporting the UNSDGs.
鈥淥ur students recognise the importance of social responsibility and actively engage in initiatives like the sleepout to support our community,鈥 said Coordinator of Community and Service, Mr Ben Princehorn.
文轩探花 extends its heartfelt gratitude to the generous staff, students and families who contributed to the donation drive and supported the sleepout. Special recognition is extended to Ms Bolton for her dedication and passion towards this project each year.
